Making the Manhattan three ways is a Goldilocks experiment that will help you understand your taste preferences along with why balance in this stiff drink is key.

Method

Manhattan #1

  • 2 1/2 ounces Rittenhouse 100 Rye
  • 1/2 ounce Sweet Vermouth
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • 1 brandied Cherry

Stir all ingredients over ice, then strain into a coupe. Garnish with the cherry

  • 3/4 ounce Sweet Vermouth
  • 1 brandied Cherry
